About us
The group started 25 years ago by a few amputees who felt alone and isolated when they first lost their limb(s). After placing an advertisement in the local newspaper, the first Amputee and Families Support Group meeting was held.
Their vision was to provide much needed support and encouragement to amputees and their families from pre-amputation through to rehabilitation and beyond. They wanted to assist other amputees in accepting and integrating this traumatic change in their personal, professional and recreational environments.
The Amputees and Families Support Group Qld Inc. (AFSG) is a non-profit, self-help community organisation dedicated to promoting the needs of amputees and their families while providing quality services to members, working towards realising their maximum potential.
